Why Sekkenah

One office in Addis, and the whole country beyond it.

  1. 01

    One quote, one file

Car, driver, guide, permits and lodges on a single page with a single price, written before you pay.

  2. 02

    Guides who know the road

Amharic, Afaan Oromo, English and Arabic. The same guide stays with you from the first morning to the last.

  3. 03

    Rates before you commit

Every route carries its price per person and the list of what is in it. No “from” that turns into something else at the office.

Past trips

The trips we have already run.

Our own film and photographs, from departures we ran this year: the Wonchi crater, the lodge on the rim, and the road south to Butajira. Nothing here is stock.

How it works

Six steps, no surprises.

    Sleep

    Lodges and camps

Ten places on the water, in the crater and in the forest. Add a bed to any route, or take the room on its own.

Rates are per room per night, indicative, and confirmed at booking.

    On the road

    Cars & drivers

A car for the airport, a driver for the day, or a 4×4 for the Rift Valley and the south. Fuel and driver included, the route agreed before you pay.

    Services

    What we arrange

Take the whole route, or only the piece you need.

    Custom

    No route suits you?

Tell us the dates, how many are travelling and what you want to see. We build the route around it.

Bete Giyorgis, the cross-shaped church cut into the rock at Lalibela.
A coffee ceremony: the jebena pot and cups on a woven grass tray.

    About us

An Ethiopian office, on Ethiopian roads.

Sekkenah is a tour operator at Jemo Michael in Addis Ababa. We run routes across the country: the Rift Valley lakes, the historic north, the Omo, Bale and the Danakil, with our own cars, our own drivers and guides we have travelled with.

The work is small on purpose. One office answers the phone, the same guide stays with you for the whole route, and nothing is handed to a number you have never called.
